New Song Lyrics: Dance of the Harlot

Dance of the Harlot

Safe inside my shell of comfort, I see

A hideous harlot staring brazenly at me

I see her laugh and stagger like a moth to a flame

Hands shake and blood boils as she profanes your holy name

I can’t believe my eyes

Frozen in inaction

My spirit in me cries

But I find no reaction

So I watch as the dance of the harlot begins

Twisting and writhing like her serpent kin

I watch as the dance of the harlot unfolds

As altars become scenes of horrors untold

As I watch the scene evolve, behold

The harlot mocks the witness of the saints of old

She proclaims at the opening of this unholy synod

“Lawlessness at last has come to the house of our God!”

I can’t believe my eyes

Frozen in inaction

My spirit in me cries

But I find no reaction

So I watch as the dance of the harlot begins

Twisting and writhing like her serpent kin

I watch as the dance of the harlot unfolds

As altars become scenes of horrors untold

Final act, counterfeit groom

Leads the harlot to her doom

Stripped bare and fed to the flames

I couldn’t speak so I’m to blame

Should have warned her while there was time

God forgive me for my crime

Wasn’t brave enough to see

That the harlot could’ve been me

cool Chris, might be worth it to find some image to go with it… or not.

I have a picture in my head, but it’s more a scene than an image. This woman dancing very sensually around a bonfire in a clearing. As she spins as writhes, her image flashes between striking beauty and hideous hag. If i ever get signed, I can’t wait to do a music video for it, lol. I’ll see if I can find some sort of picture that illustrates it on Google.
